At 77 I’m looking for comfort more than style. Amazon Essentials fills the bill. Nice everything from comfort to price these clothes are the cat’s meow. I’m the proud owner of 4 pair of shorts and 1 pair of slacks. I’m not surprised that these are Amazon brand of clothes that I like. They seem to do everything else right!!!

I am 6’1″ tall with a 36″ waist and the size large fit me perfectly. The drawstring feature leaves plenty of options for cinching them up so they feel comfortable. I do a lot of walking as part of my daily exercise routine and was looking for something besides gym shorts. These fit the bill perfectly. They look much nicer, have pockets and are very lightweight and comfortable to move around in. There is a nice variety of colors to choose from and the price can’t be beat for this type of quality. I am a true believer in Amazon products and am never hesitant about purchasing anything branded under their name. The quality to price ratio just can’t be beat.

Thoughtful details on these casual shorts help to elevate the quality without coming across as overdone. There’s 1-1/2” – 2” of outer fabric inside the pockets. Between that and the triangle-shaped reinforcement line of stitching on the pocket, I’m hopeful that they won’t wrinkle up along the pocket slit or pull inside out after washing and show the lining (gray shorts have black, khaki shorts have white). I also like the narrow, stitched-down darts on the back waist.
Since the size chart didn’t include XS, I took some measurements. The XS waist measures 28-3/4” unstretched. They are 18” long from waist to hem along the side. Pockets are 11” from the bottom of the waistband to the deepest part in the front with a 2-1/2” drop from the bottom of the pocket opening to the highest part on the side… the inside-out picture will show this better than I can describe it.
UPDATE (September 1, 2019): I’m really happy with the hems & reinforced pockets. After multiple washings, these areas have stayed flat. When dried on low, shaken & folded, the shorts overall look lightly rumpled like they do in the pictures, which is perfectly fine for casual wear. If you’ve ever had lightweight cotton canvas shorts that wrinkled so deeply along the hem or pocket areas that even ironing didn’t keep them from looking like they were balled up & stuffed into a gym bag, you’ll appreciate these.

finally i found something that is really affordable , cotton and lightweight. even if this rip in 6 months im ok with it. they run slightly larger, but not by much. Though they fit very comfortably. will be buying more of these in the future.
UPDATE: I ordered a few more pairs of these because i like them alot, but noticed that the second time around i got different color threads on the stitching, and also the drawstrings were completely different. I prefer the previous version although its a miniscule difference and you probably wouldn’t notice unless you are picky like me.

These are great shorts! Inseam is nice, not too long and not too short, on mine they measure”. Nice velcro closure on back right side pocket plus nice average sized side pockets. Color, Khaki, is right on the spot, much different than what shows on website, which on my screen looks almost grey…

So, I do wish they didn’t have a drawstring, but the drawstring is long and thin enough to be easily tucked down the front without worrying about them coming back out or causing discomfort if you don’t want to look like a ninny with some huge bow tie jutting out above your groin, and it’s damn hard to find elastic waisted shorts without a drawstring (talk about a complete lack of faith on shoppers actually buying the right size by the garment industry), so I won’t knock these for having them.
7 or 8 inch shorts are what all shorts should be, and these 8 inch shorts are true to size. The shape is good, as well. You know how some shorts are shaped terribly, so when you actually walk, they bulge/bunch in weird and super unflattering ways (probably 50% of “dress” shorts, and 90% of pleated shorts, as an example). These don’t.
I would love the 7 inch buttoned Good Threads shorts to come in 8 inch; that would be my perfect short, but these are about as close as one can get to that theoretical perfection.
I can’t speak much for longevity, but they’re dirt cheap, so I’m not all that concerned. I do wish there were more color variations though, so I could own even more of these.

I was unsure when ordering these at first, but they have become my favorite pair of shorts to throw on for no reason.
They aren’t dress shorts, but I love these things. I wear them all the time just running around town. They are very similar to Patagonia Baggies.
I wear a 34-36 waist and I ordered a Large. I am 6’2″ and they hit me right above the knee.

Very nice shorts. They seem to fit much better around the waist then do the 6 inch length. I like the fabric and I like the color. They seem to be a very nice short. Very likely that I’ll be ordering another pair or two. The price seems to be a good value also and they seem to be fairly wrinkle resistant.

Bought these for everyday wear during warm California days. and they are wonderful. Pockets are generous and deep enough to carry a large cell phone in either front pocket. I don’t use the rear pocket but it has velcro closure which is secure. There are no belt loops, shorts stay up with a drawstring, another plus especially when laying down. These are glove soft, great looking, and define the word comfortable. Just as others reported, I fell in love with them from the word GO.
Elastic waistband in addition to the drawstring makes them fit securely, and I’m a very big guy, 6’2″ and almost 300, and the XX size fits me with no problem or discomfort. My waist is 46″ and again, not an issue. I purchased the first pair, and liked them so much I purchased three additional pairs. Amazon value is unbeatable!

My 15 year old son got these in 3 colors and loves them. He is 5’10” and weighs about 130. The Small fit him perfectly. VERY soft material. Front pockets are deep. His phone fit great. One pocket in back with Valero closure. The ones pictured are the olive colored pair.

I love these shorts! I purchased 5 pair. I sit on my job and these shorts are so comfortable compared to wearing shorts requiring a belt. The material washes nicely and require little to no ironing. The material becomes softer and even more comfortable as they are repeatedly washed. The material reminds me of chino pants that I have loved in the pants. I especially like not having to worry about a fly and button.
I highly recommend these shorts. I would love to see a full length version.

I’m short 5.9 and weigh 240 with a 42” waist and 28.5 inseam. Yea I know it’s time for a diet. I have a horrid time getting short that fit for the obvious reasons. I just got these and put them on. I’m not sure I ever want to take them off. They are a perfect fit for me. I’m going to order several other pairs right now. I just love them. They are very comfortable and actually come a little bit ABOVE my knees. For me it’s very hard to find shorts that fit, are the right length, and don’t look like a “sack” on me where I have to fold the edges under my legs when I’m sitting in public because of being so baggy. For the price, these are outstanding!!!! To heck with it, they would be outstanding at twice the price as far as I am concerned.

These things are great! I bought a pair maybe 5 months ago and wore them down to nothing (they ripped when the pocket caught on a chair I was sitting in). Because my old pair ripped I tried to buy more pairs of these but apparently amazon doesn’t carry them year-round. I finally got my hands on three more pairs (khaki, navy, and grey) and these new pairs are identical to my older pair and I’m already in love with them. Some notes though:
1. The material isn’t super sturdy, so don’t expect them to last years and years (unless you rarely wear them).
2. The colors are pretty muted (which is a plus to me, but might be a negative for others).
3. I’m 5’7″ and wear a large. These things go above my knee (also a plus for me, because I think longer shorts are to restraining)
4. There are no buttons or zippers, only a drawstring for the waist and a Velcro attachment for the back pocket (again, reasons why I bought them).

So yeah, I didn’t expect much, but based on reviews, I bought three pairs of these. After wearing each, I bought two more. They’re comfortable, well-made, and a surprising value for the cost. I’m 5’11” and wear a 36″ waist. I bought larges and they’re just a touch too large, but after a few launderings, I expect they’ll be just right. I would rather have them a hair too large than a hair too small, which would also shrink and quickly become uncomfortable. I bought one of the striped pairs, and the stitching overall is a bit more stylish.

I ordered three different brands of shorts for both my brothers: Hane’s Jersey ($7), Champion Jersey ($10) and Amazon Essentials ($15). All had pockets and drawstrings.
The Hanes were the most comfortable and what they were used to. The Champions were the best looking and the ones they wear to town. The Amazon ones had the best waistband and I liked the way they looked best.
They were all good buys so it just comes down to price but they prefer the Champions.

My old gym shorts were just that – old and getting older. I looked around at the local stores for new gym shorts. I needed a back pocket that would close and at least one side pocket. I really couldn’t find anything at my local sports stores that suited my requirements. I was surprised to find these on Amazon. The fit was perfect, the material felt nice and not cheap and definitely not polyester – which was in all the local sports stores. Back pocket with Velcro is great as it keeps wallet from falling out. Side pockets are deep and keys stay there. A great surprise find on Amazon.

I was looking for elastic waist drawstring shorts for my husband. I saw these Amazon Essentials and thought, “Why not?” I was a little skeptical at first thinking that they would fall apart after a few washes and maybe not fit all that well. I was wrong, they’ve held up well after a few months of wear and my husband is pretty tough on clothes. They fit very well, they don’t fall down and the elastic is snug, the length is right above the knee where he likes them.
There’s no seams coming apart and the drawstring goes all around the waist, there’s lots of color choices, not just the three (blue, gray, black) I’m very happy with these shorts and will buy them again.

the only thing that i did not like is that they were shipped from the lexington area & they were just in the bag, not the usual AMAZON white bag, just the plastic bag from the manufacter with the shipping label on it. So anyone can see what you bought. Good thing it wasn’t any intimate clothes. That would be embarrassing.
OTHER THAN THE SHIPPING, THE SHORTS ARE GREAT! MY DAD LOVES THEM. VERY EASY FOR HIM TO GET ON & OFF.

These are really good for the price. I own and have owned a number of Dockers, AEO and other shorts. Although those mentioned might have extra pockets, say for your phone, the Amazon Essentials to me rank right up there with the other brands in terms of build quality, so far. I just wore my first pair (I purchased 3 pair) this morning and was really pleased with the build quality and the inclusion of real pockets, unlike a brand I purchased that are part linen and have stitched pockets and feel cheaply made (just my opinion and observation). These fit me nice and like I said are well worth the money.

Truly happy with these shorts. I have a 29/30″ inch waist and am 5’4″. The small size fits perfectly. Cotton material is soft, stitching is neat, front pockets deep enough to safely hold cell phone. Fabric does look slightly wrinkly after washing, but still OK for comfortable work from home wear. Looks smart. I ordered a second pair in a different color :).

My son likes these shorts. They are comfortable and the drawstring on the outside is more comfortable than an inside drawstring. I’ve ordered several pairs of these over the past year or so. He does seem to rip them out easy but he’s hard on clothes. I’ll keep purchasing these as uniform pants for school and everyday wear.

Honestly I didn’t have much hopes about these shorts but I got them since they were cheap. I was surprised by the quality of the materials, comfort I was afraid they would be too long but there just really the ideal length. Don’t double doubt it there cheap and comfortable worth every penny.

Good shorts, but the legs were too long for me. They fit perfectly in the waist, but the legs are too long. (Photo of item very deceiving – unless you’re very tall). I’m average height and these short legs go below my knee cap, which cause the hem to constantly rub the back of my knee and actually grabs my knee cap when sitting down. Otherwise, they’re fine and won’t be a problem if you’re a very tall person. I had to return them.
