About myself: 6ft, 175 pounds. Typically go with athletic fit pants with some stretch to them. These shorts hit right above the knee. Comfortable, stylish, reasonably priced. More forgiving than j crew factory Gramercy shorts, somewhat more fitted than their Rivington shorts. My new favorite shorts.
I’ll be getting the other colors as well.
Edit: Not sure why Amazon is saying I have a size 31. I ordered and received 32. Fits great.

Bought these as the bottoms for our groomsmen for our more casual wedding! The color is spot on from the picture. The fit was a little more snug than at least 1 preferred but for length and overall, still a good look! I’ve read that when washed, the bottom seam can wrinkle and I can totally see that happening so I’m opting to do a good steam rather than full on wash before wear to avoid that. The seams and threads weren’t the best but for what is possibly a one time use for our quick ceremony, good enough. Our guys are 5’8″-5’9″ about 170lbs ish and athletic build with thicker thighs, narrower waists and they ordered their normal size.

Was not to sure of these shorts given the price point, so I just ordered one pair to begin with. The ones I normally wear have a silly little whale on them or some guy on a horse or stripes and so on. When I got these I tried them on and I could not tell the difference from the branded ones. So, I went back and order one in every color. Just a small note, of the next set I ordered, I made sure and tried each one on before hanging them up. Found two that seemed a bit tight for the size and sent them back to be exchanged. The next day, new ones came and they fit just fine. Not different from the branded ones either in terms of sizing.
Mountain Chaser –
Overall these are a great pair of shorts and has a nice stretch to them like some of the higher quality shorts do. The color is great and the fit is true. Only reason not five stars is the fabric feels a little plasticky compared to other shorts I have an from Amazon. But for the price it’s still a nice pair of shorts.
Jcap Izreal –
Fits perfect, price point is good. I compared to similiar brands and I was not disappointed.

The shorts fit well enough – as expected. The cloth feels a little thin but it is smooth and pleasing to the touch. I bought the burgundy color which I like. However, I decided to test wash a corner by hand and sure enough, the color ran. In my experience burgundy and red colors are most likely to run, I’ve no idea why that is the case. Anyway, I’ve washed it twice by hand and the color ran both times. So I’ve no idea if there ever will come a time when I can toss it into the washer with the rest of my clothes. The cloth does appear crumpled from the dryer which I think is the nature of the thin cloth. Overall, I like it but it has some issues and is overpriced.

I loved these shorts – for about two days. They looked great, fit great, and felt really comfortable. Then I washed them. They emerged from the washer not just wrinkled but actually sort of crinkled. And ironing didn’t help all that much. Oh, and a one inch split emerged along the outside seam, just about an inch above the bottom seam. It’s disappointing. When I first opened the package and tried them on I was so happy I almost ordered three more pairs in different colors. Then I happened to notice a couple of bad reviews and so I decided to wait until after I had washed them. I’m glad I waited. Would not recommend.

These shorts are similar to Target’s Goodfellow 9″ inseam shorts which I’m a big fan of. I’ve purchased multiple pairs of these shorts and while I appreciate the fit and the expanded choice of colors (over Target’s), the constant wrinkling of the hem on the legs is the worst. Initially I thought it may have just been a specific color or something along those lines that was impacted by the wrinkled hem but it’s been every pair and I probably own 6 pairs in varying colors. I hope Amazon gets these right at some point as I like everything else about the shorts except for that. I live in Phoenix, AZ so pretty much live in shorts.

These almost feel like swim trunks. The waist I find to be true to size. I measure exactly 31.5″ and the size 31″ fit just fine. They are slim so a bit small in the hips but the stretch makes that fine.
Mine wrinkled pretty badly after first wash and hang dry. I attempted to iron on the silk/wool setting and it made weird texture on them. Maybe the spandex melted? I don’t know.
DJ –
These are great fitting shorts. I’ve had them for about 2 years now in multiple colors and they are my go-to summer shorts. The cotton fabric is thick but not too heavy or hot. The fit is more of a straight leg instead of some of the bigger bag your shorts that are out there. I do wish the back pocket had a button or velcro. But I’ve never lost anything out of it so not a big deal. Very affordable short that is long-lasting and comfy.
David P S –
Wow! Talk about comfort. I usually have difficulties finding things that fit since I am a 36 waist with thick legs (like a 38). But these are perfect.
Excellent fit. They are regular fit, not loose, not slim. But regular fit.
98% cotton, 2% spandex so you can be active in them.
Definitively buying again, I’m going now and buying the navy and grey ones.
DC Amazoner –
These are really nice shorts. The problem is that they fit perfectly when I put them on and then stretch out immediately. I have to hold them up because the waist gets huge. I don’t usually wear a belt with shorts, never needed to, but I have to with these.
Marmot –
My first pair of these shorts were perfect and I wore them a lot. They are stretchy and comfortable. I ordered 2 more and they fit and feel exactly the same, but they have a very annoying problem: after washing and drying them the hems on both pair, both legs, is severely wrinkled. Even using a hot steam iron won’t successfully smooth out the wrinkles on the hems. It’s very strange and very annoying to have to struggle with an iron after each wash and dry. I’m still keeping them due to their fit and comfort.

I have several pair of the Goothreads slim fit stretch chinos and I love them. So, I figured the shorts must be just as good. I love them. They’re definitely slim fit, unlike others that claim to be slim fit. The stretch feature is great and allows ease of movement when bending or sitting. They’re also lightweight which is perfect for summertime. They go thru the washer and dryer quite well with no shrinking. I love these shorts!!!!!
Kenneth E. Lenard –
They are relatively comfortable and there is some amount of stretch if that’s important to you. But they wrinkle terribly in the wash and come out looking like wrinkled bacon and once they get to that point they will be like that forever. I have some shorts from Target that I consider “cheap shorts” they are much better than these. I consider these to be shorts for working in the yard now. I can’t recommend these.
J.R. Genao –
While these shorts have a nice color and are not too bad, they were on the big side and I haven’t been able to wear them as much as I would like. Also, It would be really helpful if they had a dedicated cell phone pocket as some of the other shorts from Hagar have them. Overall I would say they are nice, just wish they were sized better.
IIDX –
I ordered a size 33 waist and for me, it fit very well. It was on point with some extra room in the waist area.
The shorts do not grip onto the thigh area (which makes the shorts more comfortable) and the cut of the shorts are above the knees.
In terms of the design, I ordered the traditional green camouflage pattern and overall the pattern is like the image.
I’ve already put these shorts on the washer twice and the color hasn’t faded.
Durable shorts and would recommend to anyone.
keaise –
The shorts were much darker than expected and the fabric itself really had a dull look to it. I like a lighter khaki color and this is not it. I am going to go back online to see if I can get what I was looking for. I really did not know how to rate this when I started out being disappointed with the color. It might be rated highly by someone who likes a more muted khaki appearance.
row_b_show –
I love these shorts. They are well made and comfortable. They have a good length and style. The camo pattern is really nice. I liked them so much that I ordered two more pairs in black and Eifel.
Amazon Customer –
I became a big fan of Goodthreads pants and shorts a few months ago: excellent value for money. But lately I have become less enthusiastic. A few weeks ago I received a pair of dress chinos labelled with the size I ordered, only to discover that they were actually one size smaller than labeled. Last week I received a pair of Goodthreads shorts, again labelled as ordered but found them about an inch smaller than the label indicated. Moral of the story, there is either (1) a lack of precision in labeling, (2) frequent mislabeling or (3) a lack of quality control. Let the buyer beware.
Matt C –
Like the color, like the length of the inseam. The only issue I have is that the pants tend to stretch easily after walking around, which usually happens with my size 34’s, but is really noticeable with this size 33. Nothing a belt can’t solve, but something to keep in mind.
Christopher Foutz –
A great pair of shorts but unfortunately too short for me. I’m 5″10 and the shorts are about 3″ above my knee. Again, A great pair of shorts, well made and I really like the 3% spandex.
F. Buffa –
In an attempt to find the right fit and quality for me I ordered 1 pair of shorts from both Goodthreads and Amazon essintials in the same size #28 and 9″ in length. With initial try on I prefer the good threads as it has a little more stretch on the stomach area which I prefer. I plan to wear the goodthreads today and the amazon essentials tomorrow. The Amazon essentials material is a little thicker but the stitching is nice on both of them.
I’m a 5’8″ and 125lb female
JFTA –
Two important things: first, the colors will bleed and it’ll fade after a couple of washes. Second, they will shrink one full size.
Other than that, it’s hard to argue with the price point. Just don’t expect them to stay minty for more than a season or two.
Mike D –
Want to like these but the fact that even after returning the first pair and sizing up they were too small left me depressed lol. Hate that clothing manufacturers can’t seem to align to the same size specifications. I’m fairly certain that going 2 sizes up is going to be too big, so I guess it’s diet time…
Mark Richmond –
I’ve been trying a variety of the GoodThreads style, and have been pleasantly surprised to find them to be consistently sized.
So many times I get used to a particular brand/size combination, only to learn that the next style they have is a completely different fit, even for the same size.
These shorts fit just like the other things in this line, sized exactly as expected.
Michael –
Needed some quick crappy shorts. These do the trick. They’re very light, the stretch is decent. The fit is poor, with pretty wide leg and old fashioned cut especially with the word “slim” in the description.
But they’re cheap, you get what you pay for.
Travis B. –
You get what you pay for. I got a few pairs and the colors have a washed / faded look to them. The wrinkle pretty bad and every pair will curl and wrinkle at the bottom of the leg opening around the stitched seam. I have bigger/ muscly thighs and these are a bit snug. 5’9 175. Probably would recommend looking elsewhere and spend a little more for a better product.
Jeff G –
Great looking shorts. The fit nicely, but during activities like mowing the lawn or lots of walking, the waist band does tend to roll over if you have a bit of a gut. This is not unusual for people with guts though, so wish me luck on losing some weight.
