Love these! And this is coming from a person who is picky with the way things fit. Lots of times things are too tight in one area or too gigantic. These fit me perfectly. If anyone needs an idea of how these fit, I am 5’2, 215lbs and have plenty of room in the 2X. It’s not too big and definitely not too snug. The drawstring fly area is stretchy, which is a huge plus with board shorts. The waist band also has stretchy material. Good for those of us who have a chunky bottom half!

As you can see, I cover up when I’m in the sun, so that’s why I wear board shorts. Needed a new pair for a family trip to Volcano Bay in Orlando. These fit well and had a side velcro pocket which fit my Go Pro Hero 6 Black perfectly. I liked that the flap for the fly was made of bathing suit material. Giving 4 * not 5 bc by the end of the day I was starting to get a bit of chafing, but, so was my son in a similar boys swim trunk, so that may just be the limit of this type of clothing, more than this particular product. I am normally between an 8 and 10 and since I knew this material wouldn’t have any stretch (it doesn’t), I got the 10 and it fits perfectly.

I am a 61 year old Californian and I don’t do swimsuits anymore…it’s board shorts and rash guards for me! I needed a new pair for summer and was almost resigned to shopping for men’s board shorts (again), but then was ecstatic to find these with a longer length for plus sized women!
Bravo Kanu Surf!
The fit and feel are fabulous~well made with a light-weight, quick drying fabric. And I love this black print! And for under $25? It just doesn’t
get any better!

I had 3 pairs already, and needed to replace one because I had gained a little weight so ordered the next larger size. The larger size I received was much smaller than my old, lower sizes. Don’t wait until the last minute before your vacation to order, in case the size you already have doesn’t match your new order.

Thank you all for the reviews! I studied many of them and here’s mine. I’m in my early 60s. If you wear a 10, get a 10! I did and they are true to size. Take your measurements and go by the size chart. My hips were 38, 39, thighs 21.Keep in mind they are very low waisted. Also, you gotta have room for your rear, so the waist may fit a little big.I am quite pleased with mine. They arrived quickly. Mine come about an inch and a half above the knee. You will not be disappointed with these shorts! The quality seems to be good and durable. They are cute enough to just wear around any where!

To all of the reviews about ordering 2 sizes up, I am not sure what size chart you were reading. I measured according to the specs which put me between a 4 and 6. Went ahead and ordered an 8 bc I wanted a loser fit and they are okay. I think the 6 would have given me the same look.

I needed a pair of board shorts “right away” for a rafting trip and decided on these after reading the ratings. Bought them in black and, as other reviewers have noted, the stitching is black, not white, as depicted in the photo. Very comfortable and really do try quickly. I am 5’3″ and 125# and purchased size 6. Plenty of room in them and not too baggy….but if I wanted a ‘snugger fit’, I think size 4 would have been better for me. I am planning on getting another pair soon!

Since nobody else is posting them, here are actual measurements for size 12:
35.5 to 36.5 inch waist
46 inch hips at largest point
27 inch thigh at largest point
22 inch leg opening
10 inch front rise
13 inch rear rise
19 inch overall length
Also FYI, they may not have contrast stitching.

I was utterly confused by the size charts that list XS, S, M, etc., when the shopping options are 0, 2, etc.. I’m 5’6″ and 116 pounds. Usually a 0 works for me, but the XS sounded too small for my hips. Bought the 4 (nothing cute in size 2). It fits my hips and I altered the waist down by 2″. I’m super excited to have a swimsuit that doesn’t require a cover or copious amounts of sunscreen. I just want to play with my kids and keep everything tucked away, you know what I mean. 😉 The length is great, hits me about 2.5″ above the knee, which is a perfect Bermuda length. Completely appropriate for running errands or eating out for lunch.

At 56 I still enjoy the beach/swimming. However, at some point I went from wanting to be seen to wishing I was invisible.
These board shorts are so perfect.
I’m 5’6 115 and usually wear a size 0 or 1 in JUNIORS.
I ordered the 0 and they fit perfectly.
I did order other colors so hopefully the sizing will be consistent.

I love the style and the fit of these shorts but I wish they had built-in liners.
I wear them in the pool but they are not as comfortable once they are wet unless you wear a pair of undies with them. Even for daily wear, if you don’t wear undies, they are thin material and you will have some “creeping” up where you don’t want it.
They do dry pretty fast but that’s only useful if you’re not wearing anything under them.
The fly has a Velcro closure and a drawstring and the Velcro is already wearing out so the fly pops open, also not ideal if you’re not wearing undies. A plastic zipper or if the drawstring was used in a criss cross fashion to cinch it closed, would have been better for keeping the fly closed.
I’m giving these a good rating because I do like them and for the price, I can work with the flaws.

I normally wear a 2x, but due to some of the comments I ordered the 2x and 3x. The 2x fit true to size, the 3x was too big. I do like the shorts. They have a nice length to them to cover more thigh area that other swim shorts and skirts don’t, and they are comfortable. They especially work with Tankinis. But I also plan to wear them over a 1piece swimsuit I already had also. They do not have any type of lining or panty inside though.

I thought the sizing on these was right-on. I ordered my usual size and they fit. I was pleased at first, because I actually really liked the fit and they seemed comfortable. Everything was great up until I tried to walk–eek! There is a slight nap to the fabric of shorts that makes the fabric stick to itself in your inner leg when you walk. I’m an average-sized person with an average level of fitness and an average level of thigh-rub, but I do NOT usually have this problem with my pants. I can’t even walk in them because the fabric in the inner thigh makes this weird noise and gets all twisted up and then the shorts hike up in the middle. Very unattractive and uncomfortable. I’m sending them back.

5’4″ 190lbs wanted longer shorts for the beach but finding ones to fit my size is not easy. Tried 3 different sizes to get the correct size. I’m an XL in this brand. Amazon recommended large (didn’t fit) I tried going by hip measurements and waist but that put me in 2xl which also didn’t fit. XL is my normal size though.

OMG, why didn’t I buy these years ago?! I have never been more comfortable at the beach – so great!
I have a large behind & very big thighs. “Apple” shape, I guess you’d say. Tankinis with the shorts were a good idea…but the shorts were always too short for me & would ride up. Swim dresses, also a good idea…but still hated having my legs exposed in a short skirt.
This year, I got a cute tankini with regular bottoms & wore the board shorts on top. Fantastic!! They were comfortable, fit great, dried fast & I felt covered & relaxed. Highly recommend for those not happy with their legs!! I wear a 20 & bought a 3x.

I am happy with the sizing and fit – exactly what I expected. After reading all of the reviews, I was hesitant to purchase these, but with Amazon’s fantastic return policy, I went ahead and bought them to give them a try. I purchased a 14 which is what I typically wear (I like low rise jeans and shorts) The only surprise from unwrapping them was that the stitching on the black shorts is not white like it shows in the pictures. Everything, including the string closure, is black. Overall, these are just what I hoped for as I prepare for my beach vacation in June.

Ok, FIRST AND FOREMOST!!! Unless you are unrealistic about your real size, these do run big. Based on a couple of reviews that say they ran small, I didn’t want to take a chance. After looking at the size chart and reviews I decided to go with my actual size….they just arrived today and guess what? Too big. I mean, extra roomy big. I have just re-ordered these in a smaller size and that should be perfect.
The quality of this item is excellent though. I would have liked to have had a pair that were lined but those are difficult to find without being either too skimpy (why bother, they look just like regular bottoms) or too baggy (why bother just wear a dress!). These are flattering shorts that will last a long time. Nicely made, good quality and the price tag says $28 for MSRP. Guess I’m getting a good deal! 🙂 The length is perfect, not too short not too long, catches me about mid-thigh, just like a great pair of regular shorts do. The leg opening is not too narrow or too wide (no floaters!). These will be very versatile and will get you from poolside to running errands or from the beach to around town.
I recommend going one size DOWN from your regular size if you truly know what you are for a size. I know I’m an 8-10 and like I said, I ordered the 10 thinking to be cautious….will be able to wear the 8 and I’m thinking it will still be roomy enough to be comfortable. If I wanted a bit more snug I’d go with a 6. Just an FYI. I bought some shorts from Walmart that were like that…I ordered 8’s and wear the 6’s with room to spare. Makes you feel good (hey, what’s in a number right?) but it’s just the way these are cut. They are fairly straight in their cut…no curves really. I’m curvy and these adapt well but like I said, they run big because of their cut.
Hope this helps.

I tried these on when they arrived. I haven’t noticed any stretch, but plenty of room with sizing up. Looking forward to wearing these as the weather warms up. Pleased with this item so far.

Great shorts for swimming! Very comfortable !

I found the fit of a size 8 to he consistent with my old Navy size 8 shorts. Previously, I had purchased a size 14 of this short for post-partum use, and found it true to size as well. Good quality.

I bought this using my husband’s account. I really read through all of the reviews before purchasing because buying clothes online is not a forte of mine. I’m 5’8″ 150ish pounds with a bigger lower assets than upper; however, I sized up and purchased a Size 12 (instead of my normal size 10) and it fit perfectly. The drawstring does help make it more snug. I have yet to use it in water, but if it fares well with continued pool use I’ll most likely buy another.

I originally ordered these one size larger due to reviews saying they ran small. The larger size was too big for me, so I exchanged them for my normal size (6), and they are great! They are very flattering, not flaring out in the legs, and are light and comfy. They are a bit long, but will be perfect for jet skiing. As other reviews stated- no white stitching.

These board shorts were just what I was looking for. I wear an 8 at Gap and bought a medium. They fit perfectly.

My second time to order this brand of board short-I lost weight, and downsized, also went with longer length. Getting them in different lengths is a huge seller for me, on top of being comfortable. This has been my go-to for about 3 years now! Love them!
Azteacher12 –
Great price and fit. I usually wear a 16 and bought a 2x. It is loose but doesn’t fall off. It was great for surfing and snorkeling.
azalea –
I got the size 12 and it fit just like a size 12 should. I ordered black and it did not come with white stitching as pictured; it was all black, but it had a little pocket on the side. The material is not bulky like men’s swim trunks and it was very light and comfortable in the water. Hardly noticed I was wearing it. It stays on well with the velcro and drawstring, even though it’s a little loose on me. I am 5′ 3″ and the shorts hit just above my knee. It was a good buy and worth the money.

I was worried ordering these from the reviews of they run small, large, cheap material! Well i can say I am an 8, ordered an 8 and they fit perfect. Material is very nice, seems well made and I look forward to using them. The tie is black and all stitching is black (not like picture) but they look nice.
